We’re really pleased with the progress of the Saffron Walden Town Hall renovations, and think it’s important to keep locals up to speed with what’s happening.
The Town Hall is awaiting the corrugated iron roof; then the whole thing will be wrapped in plastic (to provide weather protection).
The roof tiles will then be carefully removed, timbers repaired as required, and then the roof replaced, using new tiles (made in England!) where necessary. We estimate that about half of the old tiles will be conserved and saved; the rest need to be replaced with new. In addition, insulation in the new roof will be to modern standards.
