Residents for Uttlesford (R4U) is delighted that Essex Highways is starting to resurface Saffron Walden’s roads.
Cllr Gadd continued “There are many other pot-holed areas in Saffron Walden, with Cromwell Road and Radwinter Road probably being the worst. I will continue to press for re-surfacing of these. At Saffron Walden Town Council, we will soon also start a project to try to ensure that all significant potholes in town are fully recorded with Essex Highways. The aims will be both to try to get the potholes repaired, and also to support local residents who suffer damage from poorly maintained roads by showing that relevant potholes have been properly previously reported.”
R4U’s Paul Gadd concluded “Since the 25th July flooding in Saffron Walden, I have been is discussions with Essex County Council drainage engineers to address the flooding issues in the town. They are now starting a programme of drain clearage. Debden Rd, East St and Thaxted Rd were some of the areas most affected by flooding. I am hopeful that ECC will be able to take advantage of the road closures for the resurfacing to also to clear those drains and implement some highways modifications to lessen the impacts of future flooding.”
