As part of R4U’s Net-Zero strategy at Uttlesford District Council, new publicly accessible electric vehicle charging points have been installed at the council car park on London Road in Saffron Walden.
Louise Pepper (R4U)
R4U’s Cllr Louise Pepper, who is the UDC Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said “We are delighted that these new electric vehicle charging points are now in use. Requiring the installation of new high-voltage cables for fast-charging, the 22kW floor-standing posts provide charging for 8 vehicles at the same time. Five are available in the public side of the car park and 3 for council employees. During the working day, the chargers are for council visitors and employees, but the public chargers can be used by anyone after-hours and during the weekend.”
Cllr Pepper added “They will assist R4U’s Net-Zero strategy at UDC, along with new electric charging points at White Street and Chequers Lane car parks in Dunmow and Crafton Green in Stansted. Residents can see that we are continuing to deliver on our environmental election manifesto promises.”
