Residents delighted as proposed Auton Croft development withdrawn

The proposed housing development of the open space behind adjoining Auton Croft in Saffron Walden has been withdrawn by Uttlesford District Council.

R4U Councillor and Leader of Saffron Walden Town Council Paul Gadd said “I’m very pleased to hear this and fully support the decision to withdraw the planning application. Ward councillors have met with residents a number of times, and in truth there are no easy answers. UDC clearly has a difficult balance to strike in trying to provide much needed social housing whilst at the same time preserving much needed green space. In this case, the depth of feeling that many local people have shown has underlined how important this green space is to them, and credit is due to UDC for being prepared to listen to and act for local residents.”
